Lobos Fall in Three at Boise State

BOISE, Idaho— The New Mexico volleyball team fell in three sets to Boise State on Thursday night at Bronco Gym, with Kaitlynn Biassou leading the team with nine kills.

The Broncos scored the first three points of the opening set and created further separation at 8-1, to which the Lobos couldn’t make up ground. Biassou led with three kills in the set and Elizabeth Woods added two kills on three attacks, but the Lobos couldn’t match BSU’s .583 hitting percentage in the set.

Biassou opened the second set with a kill for UNM’s first lead of the match, before the Broncos later used a 4-0 run to take a 9-3 lead and continued to stretch the lead. A Biassou kill late in the set brought the margin down to eight at 21-13, to which Boise State scored the next four points to take the set.

Kali Wolf and Biassou each recorded three kills in the set, while the Lobos tallied two total blocks.

There were three ties in the third set at one, two and four, although again, Boise State went on a run to create a margin that the Lobos couldn’t recover from. Biassou added three final kills in the third set.

UNM drops to 17-7, 8-5 in Mountain West play with the loss and heads to Utah State to close out the week on Saturday at 1 p.m. MT.
