Lobos Net Three More Wins at Howl

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Satoho Toriumi and Allison Romero took singles wins and Hsuan Huang and Myu Kageyama teamed up for a doubles win as the Lobos picked up three more wins on the second day of the Halloween Howl.

UNM was paired up with New Mexico State in singles and Colorado State in doubles.  Toriumi had an up-and-down, but ultimately successful match with Gavi Kalaga, winning 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.  Romero, who only played doubles yesterday, won over Miranda Bishard 7-5, 6-4.  Two other matches went three sets, but fell to the Aggies.  Hsuan Huang and Harsha Challa had a fun match with CHalla holding on 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 and Sarah O’Connor and Georgia Townsend also went three with Townsend prevailing 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.

The other singles match was Mingfang “Lisa” Zhu defeated Kagayama 6-3, 6-4.

Kagayama and Huang teamed up in doubles for a win over Sarka Richterova and Somer Dalla-Bona 6-4 while Toriumi and O’Connor fell 6-3 to Matea Mihaljevic and Radka Buzkova 6-3. 

Romero teamed up with NMSU’s Melissa Cartis due to an injury to Yue Lin “Polly” Chen, and they played and lost to Lucia Natal and Tracy Guo 6-0.

The final day of the Halloween Howl is Sunday with doubles at 9:30 and singles at 11:30 am.  UNM will play NMSU in doubles and NAU in singles.
