BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – The New Mexico women’s golf team opened play Monday at the Dale McNamara Invitational, hosted by the University of Tulsa at the Golf Club of Oklahoma. After weather delayed the start of the play, darkness halted the day late in the second round with the Lobos tied for fourth place at 15-over.

New Mexico shot 9-over in the first round before shooting 6-over during the first 14-16 holes of the second round. The final round will be Tuesday, following the conclusion of the second round in the morning.

UNLV is leading the tournament at 3-under and is the only team under par at the end of the day. Nebraska is in second at 8-over, BYU is third at 13-over, while the Lobos are tied with SMU and Sam Houston State at 15-over.

“After an eventful evening last night with a tornado warning and then a two-hour delay this morning, we lost focus a bit,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “Our par-5 play was lacking, but I saw a lot of good things. We can go deep on this course, but it will take some better placement.”

Lauren Lehigh and Jenny Lertsadwattana lead the Lobos at even par for the tournament, currently T-10th on the individual leaderboard. Both players shot a 1-over 73 in the first round and are 1-under in the second round, Lehigh through 16 holes and Lertsadwattana through 15 holes. Myah McDonald also shot 1-over in the first round and is 4-over through 16 holes of the second round. Lisa-Marie Pagliano is at 10-over through 14 holes of the second round and Tiana Cruz is at 17-over with four holes to play in her second round.

Play will conclude Tuesday at the Golf Club of Oklahoma beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT with the conclusion of round two.
