Women's Tennis Wins Four on Final Day of Utah Invite

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Hsuan Huang and Satoho Toriumi picked up singles wins against Utah and UNM got two doubles wins out of three against Weber State on the final day of the Utah Invitational.

In singles, Huang and Toriumi earned wins.  Huang, playing at No. 4, took a 6-4, 6-3 win over Utah’s Madison Tattini, giving Huang a perfect 3-0 win in singles.  Toriumi’s win came at No. 5 singles, a 6-4, 6-3 win over Katya Hersh.  Toriumi’s win also made her a perfect 3-0 in singles at the Utah Invitational.  Overall, UNM went 10-8 in singles for the tournament with Huang and Toriumi each going 3-0, Myu Kageyama 2-1, Hsiang-Wen “Albie” Huang 1-2,  Yue Lin “Polly” Chen 1-2 and Sarah O’Connor 0-3.

In doubles against Weber State, both Huangs teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 2 over Patty Kuo and Kenadee Semenik.  Sarah O’Connor and Toriumi won 8-7 (8-2) over Megan Lombardi and Sicely Ferreira.

The women’s tennis team is back in action October 14-17 at the ITA Championships in Las Vegas, Nev.
