Cherry/Silver Exhibition Starts Friday

by Frank Mercogliano

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — One week after returning the pool, the Lobos are back in action for another meet, and this time it’s literally all about the team.  UNM’s annual Cherry/Silver exhibition meet will let UNM get another meet in, and even though it’s just an exhibition, it will allow for the Lobos to get a full meet run-through in for the first time in two years.

UNM is coming off a clean sweep of Adams State in a relay meet last Friday night.  That meet did have diving, but there was no scoring.  This meet will allow the full team to run through an actual meet schedule and preparation, which will be a key down the road as nearly 65% of the team has never run through a full UNM meet.

The diving competition will get started around 2 pm, with the swimming races slated to start around 2:30 or 2:40 pm, pending when some of the student-athletes get out of class.

The meet will serve as a real-time tune up for UNM as it readies for its first full meet of the season, next Friday at CSU Pueblo.
