ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Head men’s tennis coach Chris Russell has announced the signing of Aram Noroozian of British Columbia, Canada.  He will join the program at the semester break, giving UNM nine active players for the 2022 spring season.

Noroozian’s signing comes at a hot time for the Canadian, as he just picked up a singles championship and a doubles championship at the Under-18 Canadian National Championships.

The 5-11 Noroozian hails from Vancouver and plays at the Pro Merita Academy.

At the Canadian U-18s, the left-hander didn’t drop a set in taking the singles title, winning 6-3, 6-4 in the final, while he teamed with Sasha Rozin as the No. 2 seed in winning the doubles title as well.

“Aram has been on an amazing trajectory of progress,” said Chris Russell.  “His desire to work, improve and compete will help us immediately.”
