Women's Tennis Schedule for 2021-22 Released

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Four fall tournaments including a home tournament over Halloween weekend highlight the early portion of the 2021-22 women’s tennis schedule, which will see UNM play nine spring matches at home after just four at home over the last two seasons.

UNM will get its fall campaign underway with a trip to Las Cruces for the Aggie Invitational, a tournament that UNM has traditionally opened the season with and fared well.  That tournament will take place September 17-19.  UNM will also travel to Salt Lake City for the Utah Invitational on Oct. 1-3.  The ITA Mountain Regionals will be held October 14-17 in its traditional home of Las Vegas, and UNM will close out the fall season with the Halloween Classic, a fun event held over three days from October 29-31 that will feature four schools.

The spring dual season begins with a pair of road matches in Colorado at Colorado College and Metro State January 29 and 30.  UNM will open its home schedule on February 4 against Northern Arizona, and then follow that up with Abilene Christian two days later in the start of a four match home swing.  UNM will host a pair of WAC members in New Mexico State (February 12) and Grand Canyon (February 18) before heading to the Central Time Zone for two road matches at Lamar and at McNeese State.

UNM will close out the non-conference schedule with a home match against UTEP followed by road matches with Santa Clara and San Francisco.

Conference play will have UNM hosting Air Force, Nevada, San Jose State and Fresno State.  The league will once against use a pod system for conference matches, meaning UNM will also play four neutral matches (Colorado State at Wyoming, Utah State at Boise State, and both UNLV and San Diego State at Air Force).  The Lobos have just two true road matches, at Wyoming and Boise State.

The Mountain West Tournament will take place in Tucson, Arizona at a neutral site April 28-May 1.
