Lobos Earn USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— For the second year in a row, The University of New Mexico volleyball team has earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award.

The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale. UNM was one of 232 collegiate teams named as a recipient of the award for the 2020-21 academic year.

As a team, the Lobos finished with a 3.67 and 3.57 GPA in each of the semesters, respectively, and have carried a 3.50 or above in each of the last four semesters.

This is the sixth time in the last seven years that the Lobos have received the team academic award and the second under head coach Jon Newman-Gonchar.
