UNM Signs Reus to 2021 Class

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The University of New Mexico women’s basketball program has added another international Lobo to the 2021-22 roster in the signing of Paula Reus.

“We are excited about the addition of Paula to our program,” UNM head women’s basketball coach Mike Bradbury commented. “She will provide depth at the forward position and her international experience will be an added bonus to our team.”

Joining the recent signings of Rebeka Renczes and Zeyno Işıl Şeren, Reus also played in the U16 FIBA 2019 European Championship with the Spanish national team.

From Palma de Mallorca, Islas Baleares and standing 6-1, Reus averaged 11.7 minutes, 3.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.7 steals per game at the European Championship, with her best performance occurring against Sweden, in which she scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds to go along with two steals and an assist. The Spaniards won the bronze medal with Reus facing Işıl Şeren’s Turkish team in the round of 16.

Beyond her time with the national team, the newest Lobo played for Barça CBS LF2, winning the regular season championship, and qualified for the finals. She was a Balearic selection five of six years. In addition to playing for Barça CBS, Reus has also played for Bahía San Agustín and Segle XXI, playing in 25 games and averaging 4.7 points per game with Segle XXI.

“I chose UNM because I feel I can grow as a person and a player,” Reus commented. “The University is really good academically and I can get a quality education while playing basketball.

“The coaching staff has been really supportive during my recruitment process, and I felt wanted. Being far away from home, I feel I can have my family away from home here.”

Reus is the sixth member of the 2021 signing class and brings the current roster total to 13 players.
