Lobos Add Birima Seck to Hoops Roster

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball program has added Birima Seck to the Lobo roster, the program announced Wednesday. Seck has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play for the Lobos in 2021-22.

Seck, a 6-foot-11, 200-pound forward born in Senegal, hails from Glendale, Ariz. where he competed for Dream City Christian High School and graduated in 2021.

“We are excited about the addition of Birima to our basketball program,” head coach Richard Pitino said. “He has the size and skill to make an impact right away. Birima is multi-positional and lives in the gym. He will make an impact on the court, in the classroom and in the community.”

Prior to his time at Dream City, where he posted a double-double with a season-most 10 points and 12 rebounds on Jan. 23, Seck also competed for Canterbury Academy High School.

“I believe that I am going to have the help that I need to have a better future at UNM,” Seck said. “I’m so thankful for the opportunity and the faith the @unmlobombb coaching staff have shown in me,” Seck added on Instagram. “I can’t wait to get started!”
