Lobos Close Out Busy Weekend in Baton Rouge, La. 

BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of New Mexico track and field team closed out a busy weekend at the LSU Alumni Gold and the Drake Relays.

On Friday, Elise Thorner, Adva Cohen, and Andrea Modin Engesæth all participated in the women’s 3000 Steeplechase at the Drake Relays, finishing in 11th, 12th, and 14th respectively. Thorner ran at a time of 9:52.90, a personal best for the redshirt freshman. Cohen was consistently in the top 10 runners in the race, crossing the finish line at 9:56.00. Modin Engesæth rounded out the Lobos in the race, finishing at the 10:06.58 mark.

At the LSU Alumni Gold on Saturday, three UNM athletes finished in the top-10 in their respective events. Matthew Larkin finished in sixth place in the men’s 800, run, crossing the line at a time of 1:51.07. Tianna Holmes finished in seventh place in the women’s 400m dash (53.00), and Gabriel Brown finished in eighth place in the men’s pole vault at a mark of 5.01m   16-05.25).

The Lobos will now head to the West Coast Relays in Clovis, Calif., tabbed to take place on April 30.
