Top-Ranked Lobos to Tee Off at MW Tournament Tuesday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team is set to enter the 2021 Mountain West Women’s Golf Tournament as the top-seeded squad in the field on Tuesday, April 20, in Rancho Mirage, Calif. at the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club (par 72, 6,270 yards).

New Mexico heads into the tournament the highest-ranked Mountain West squad, 46th in the nation, as ranked by GolfStat. The Lobos lead five Mountain West teams to rank in GolfStat’s top 75 including San Diego State (47), San José State (54), UNLV (59) and Fresno State (73).

A Lobo win would mark the ninth in UNM women’s golf program history. UNM’s current win total of eight marks the most of any other conference team.

The Lobos will feature a lineup consisting of sophomore and 2020 Mountain West Co-Freshman of the Year, Napat “Jenny” Lertsadwattana, senior Caroline Jansson, sophomore Lauren Lehigh, freshman Myah McDonald and senior Serena Chon.

Lertsadwattana led the Lobos in their first four tournaments of the season registering a season-best score of +3 in three of them while Lehigh guided UNM through the PING/ASU Invitational with a final score of +1 and McDonald led the Lobos with a fifth-place tie at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational on March 26-27.

McDonald turned in a career-best performance that included posting the Lobos’ first final score under par on the season (-1).

The Lobos are currently scheduled to tee off of hole #1 at 7 a.m. PT (8 a.m. MT). Fans will be allowed to watch live and in person while live stats will also be available soon via GolfStat.
