Gwen Maly Named Mountain West Co-Offensive Player of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — After posting seven points through the University of New Mexico’s two-game home stand over the weekend, redshirt senior Gwen Maly has been named the Mountain West Co-Offensive Player of the Week. This is the second time this season Maly has held the MW Offensive Player of the Week title.
Maly led the Lobos to a pair of victories last weekend against Wyoming (3-1) and Colorado State (2-0), recording a total of three goals and an assist for a total of seven points on the week. The redshirt-senior also tallied six shots, including three on goal, and scored the game-winning goal in both matches.
After celebrating her senior night on Friday, Maly had a foot in every goal scored by the Lobos in UNM’s 3-1 victory over Wyoming, posting two goals and an assist in the match.
This weekly honor is shared with Ashley Cardozo of Utah State, who registered three goals and an assist for seven points over the weekend.
Maly and the Lobos will now host San Diego State in the Mountain West Conference Final tabbed to take place on April 17 at 7:30 p.m. MT at the UNM Soccer Complex.
