Charlotte Prouse Named Mountain West Track Athlete of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Charlotte Prouse of the University of New Mexico track and field team has been named the Female Track Athlete of the Week after claiming first place in the 3000m steeplechase at the Hayward Premiere in Eugene, Ore.

Prouse crossed the finish line in a time of 9:54.65, which is the No. 1 time in the NCAA this season. Her ability to pull away in the final lap in the race allowed her to cross the finish line over four seconds before any other runner.

Next on the schedule for the Lobos is the Drake Relays, the Don Kirby Tailwind, and the LSU Alumni Gold, tabbed to take place the weekend of April 22-24.
