Lobos send three to Championships at the Peak at Air Force

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. — The University of New Mexico’s track and field team sent three field athletes to the Championships at the Peak, hosted by the Air Force Academy in USAF Academy, Colo. Junior Aidan Quinn participated in the men’s triple jump and posted a new personal best with a mark of 50-5.25 (15.37m), earning him a third-place finish in the event.

The other two Lobos to participate in the meet were seniors Ada’ora Chigbo and Jamari Drake, who both participated in the women’s long jump. Chigbo finished in fifth place with a mark of 5-8.50 (1.74m). The senior cleared the mark on her first try but could not clear the next mark. It was a similar story with Drake, as she placed sixth with a mark of 5-8.50 (1.74m). Drake, however, cleared the mark on her third try.

The Lobos will next travel to Las Vegas, Nev., to participate in the UNLV Spring Opener on Saturday, March 6th. The NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships are set to take place on March 11-13 in Fayetteville, Ark.
