Women's Golf Opens Spring Season Monday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team is set to open its 2021 Spring season on Monday, Feb. 8 as it heads to the Lamkin Invitational hosted by San Diego State for a two-day, three-round tournament. The Lobos are one of nine teams in the tournament making their season debut.

UNM will compete at The Farms Golf Club, a 6,318-yard, par 72 course, Monday and Tuesday. The deep field is set to include No. 22 TCU, Arizona, Colorado, Tulane, UCLA, USC, Washington State, Hawai’i, Long Beach State, UC Irvine and San Diego State. The Lobos and the Aztecs will be the only squads representing the Mountain West.

Monday’s first round is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. PT / 8 a.m. MT followed immediately by round two. Round three is also scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. PT / 8 a.m. MT on Tuesday. Fans will be able to follow live stats here:

The Lobo lineup consists of four returners in sophomore Napat “Jenny” Lertsadwattana, senior Carolina Jansson, junior Kamie Hamada and sophomore Chloé Lauer, along with the only freshman on the team, Myah McDonald.

Lertsadwattana, named Mountain West Freshman of the Year last season, was one of three Lobos to compete in all 21 rounds for the Lobos last season and led UNM with a scoring average of 74.05 strokes per round.

Jansson, who also competed in all 21 rounds last year, followed Lersadwattana with 75.43 strokes per round and carded the lowest score of the season for UNM, a 68.

Hamada posted a low-round score of 71 twice last season with a season-high place of seventh while Lauer posted a low score of 73 twice in her inaugural season.
