Lobo XC 2021 Schedule Set

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The University of New Mexico cross country team is weeks away from its season starting, and will be making several appearances in the state of Nevada.

The Lobos begin the season on Feb. 1 at the Nevada Desert Challenge in Las Vegas, Nev. After a brief break, UNM returns to Las Vegas for the Nevada Desert Classic on Feb. 19 and will close the regular season at the Mountain West Championships, hosted this year by UNLV in Las Vegas on March 5. As always, the Lobos look to end their season at the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla. on March 15.

The UNM women enter the season ranked fourth nationally and as the Mountain West preseason favorite, picking up nine first-place votes and 81 points. The men enter after having been picked sixth in the preseason poll.

In 2019, the Lobo women won their 12 consecutive Mountain West title, finishing the season with a podium finish at the NCAA Championships with a fourth-place result and return Adva Cohen, Gracelyn Larkin, Brenda Rosales-Coria and have strengthened their roster with the transfer additions of Annamaria Kostarellis and Hannah Miller.

The men return Nehemiah Cionelo, Reece Donihi, Harrison Smith III,  Epherem Zerai and Iolo Hughes, while adding Matthew Larkin, Abdirizak Ibrahim and Awet Yohannes.
