Lobos to Host First Two Series' in Lubbock

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team will host its first two home conference series’ against both Nevada and Utah State at Lubbock Christian University, the UNM Athletic Department announced Monday. The Lobos will face Nevada on Dec. 31 and Jan. 2 followed by Utah State on Jan. 6 and Jan. 8 at Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Due to current state regulations regarding COVID-19, the Lobos are not able to start their home season in The Pit and will begin competition in Lubbock, Texas instead. Fans will not be allowed into the venue.

Game dates and times remain the same for all four games, as well as TV networks. The Lobos will play Nevada Dec. 31 at 7 p.m. MT / 8 p.m. CT on FS1 and Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. MT / 9 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network. UNM will then take on Utah State on Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. MT / 9 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network and Jan. 8 at 9 p.m. MT / 10 p.m. CT on FS1.

“We are grateful for the opportunity Lubbock Christian University is providing us with the permission to host these home contests on their campus,” head coach Paul Weir said. “The generosity to open up their doors and provide our student-athletes this experience is a great lesson to us all. Lobo Basketball will forever remember their grace in helping us at a time of such great need.”
