Lobo Club Donor of the Game – Curtis & Becky Pino
The UNM connection for Curtis and Becky Pino is strong. Both attended UNM after being born and raised in Albuquerque, with Curtis walking on to the football team to play for Rocky Long. Now, their love for the Lobos continues as a member of the Lobo Club.
How did you first get involved with the Lobo Club?
We returned to Albuquerque after living away for seven years. We were invited to a Lobo Club Gala by a former teammate and friend. We had an amazing time and it reinvigorated our Lobo spirit after having lived away. We haven’t missed one since and we truly enjoy supporting the Lobo Club.
Tell us about yourself and your family.
We have been married for 13 years. We have four children: Addison- 10, Lincoln- 7, Logan and Lola- 5. We enjoy spending time as a family, playing games and watching the kids play sports or participate in school activities. We love to spend time with grandparents and cousins.
What do you love about New Mexico?
We are both born and raised in Albuquerque. We are alumni of UNM and have an enormous amount of Lobo pride! We enjoy supporting and watching Lobo sports. We also love the food here and missed it when we were away. New Mexican food with Christmas chile is always the best!
Why do you choose to support the Lobo Club?
We support the Lobo Club because I played football while in undergraduate school at UNM. I walked onto the team but with hardwork and dedication earned a scholarship. While playing under Rocky Long, I learned the value of hard work not only in athletics but in my education as well. The time I spent with the team made me who I am today.
What motivates you to give to the Lobo Club?
We are motivated by the true belief that student-athletes complete their college experience healthy, well-educated and true team players ready for the professional world. Lobo Club supports the endeavors of student-athletes and the future leaders of our community.
What makes UNM Athletics so special to you?
My personal experience as a Lobo football player makes UNM Athletics very special to me. I believe my experience in the Lobo football program made me a strong leader and hard worker.
