ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball program is set to host its second “Women’s Walkthrough” on Tuesday, November 10, starting at 7 p.m. MT, the program announced Monday. The event promises to be an exciting opportunity for women to get an exclusive, virtual, behind-the-scenes look at Lobo basketball.
Registration for the special virtual event is now open with the deadline to register set for Friday, Nov. 6. The cost is $20 to register, UNM students are free.
Participants in the 2020 “Women’s Walkthrough” will enjoy live virtual tours of the UNM men’s basketball facilities as well as special activities at each “stop” throughout the evening. Virtual “stops” are set to include:
-Lobo Weight Room
-Lobo Training Room
-Film Breakdown Sessions
The inaugural “Women’s Walkthrough” occurred on Oct. 3, 2019 and was created as a way to kick off the Lobo men’s basketball season in a new and creative way. It served as an opportunity to reach out to a brand new population, bring everyone together and invite them into the world of Lobo men’s basketball.
“We were ecstatic with the turnout, content and fun that we enjoyed last year at this event,” said head coach Paul Weir. “Bringing together women from so many different backgrounds created a unique experience for Lobo Basketball. This year we will adapt to the times we are in and hopefully deliver an even better virtual experience to everyone that attends.
“In addition, this year we are partnering up with ENDWI to continue to spread their message and help make our community a safer place.”
This season’s virtual “Women’s Walkthrough” not only allows for the opportunity to bring local female Lobo fans together like last year, but the virtual format also allows for Lobo fans across the country to join in the fun!
For Lobo fans that have ever wondered “Why are they doing that?” when watching their Lobos on the floor, this is the perfect opportunity to learn what goes on before, during and after games, during practices, in coaches meetings, and much more.
