Complete CoSIDA All-District Teams: Men | Women

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A pair of Lobo tennis players, Stepan Holis on the men’s team and Yue Lin “Polly” Chen on the women’s team, were named to CoSIDA Academic All-District, earning spots on the at-large teams.

Both will now advance to the national ballot for potential Academic All-America honors.

The at-large squad for District VII encompasses all Division I institutions in the states of Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas.  The at-large teams are made up of nominees from the following men’s sports: fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling; and the following women’s sports: beach volleyball, bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.

Chen earned her way onto the squad for the second straight season, while Holis made it for the first time.  He becomes the first men’s at-large All-District honoree since Samir Iftikhar of tennis and Christian Otto of skiing in 2015.

Chen also can become UNM’s first three-time All-District honoree on the at-large team since Michaela Bezdickova of women’s tennis, who was on the squad from 2012 to 2014. Holis was also named All-Mountain West in singles in late April.
