Lobos to Host Grand Canyon, Denver

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s tennis will look to get back to its winning ways as it hosts Grand Canyon and Denver on Friday and Sunday, respectively.  The match with Grand Canyon is at 3 p.m. on Friday and the Denver match is at 1 p.m. on Sunday.  Both matches will be held at the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 virus crisis, only essential personnel and family members will be admitted into the facility.  Fans can follow along with live stats and updates on Twitter during the match.

The Lobos are 5-7 on the season, having lost three straight after a five-match winning streak.  They will take on a Grand Canyon squad that has struggled to a 1-11 record on the season, That lone win was in its last match, a 6-1 win over Omaha.  The Lobos on Sunday take on a solid Denver squad that is 13-9 on the season, and will be playing Grand Canyon in a neutral match on Saturday.

While Grand Canyon enters this weekend with one win, Denver enters with just one loss as it is 12-1 on the season, 10-1 at home.  Denver and UNM have three common opponents in Northern Colorado, Utah and BYU, with both teams winning all three of those matches.
