Men's Tennis Falls to Old Dominion 4-1

EUGENE, Ore. — The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team swept the doubles point but could not get any singles matches to fall their way and loss for one to Old Dominion in a neutral site tennis match played at the University of Oregon’s Student Center Tennis Complex.  

The lost drop New Mexico to 5-7 on the year while Old Dominion improved to 11-2.  UNM now heads back home for a pair of matches starting Friday at 3 PM against Grand Canyon at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.

UNM got off to a 1-0 lead by sweeping doubles.  Dominic West and Sergio Molina picked up a tiebreaker win 7-3 and Stepan Holis and Facundo Bermejo also won their match at No. 3 doubles 7-5. 

However that was the only point UNM picked up on the day.  West, Holis and Jake Trondson all lost in straight sets putting the Monarchs up 3-1.  With Molina in a third set and Rafael Abdulsalam in a second set tiebreaker, Old Dominion clinched a win with a three-set win at No. 4 singles over Raul Dobai.
