Denver Takes Down Lobos in Women’s Tennis

Box Score

DENVER, Colo. — The University of Denver swept doubles and singles to take a 4-0 win over New Mexico in a women’s tennis match in Denver on Saturday afternoon.  The loss dropped UNM to 3-7 on the season, while Denver moved up to 11-4 overall and a perfect 6-0 at home.

The Lobos fell behind in doubles, dropping No. 1 and No. 3 doubles at 6-0 and 6-1 respectively, and that put UNM in a hole it could never successfully climb out of.

The Pioneers took three singles matches in straight sets to end it at 4-0.  Natasha Munday fell at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-2; Sara Kuuttila-Webbert lost 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1 singles and Hsaing-Wen “Albie” Huang’s nine match winning streak ended with a 6-3, 6-2 loss at No. 4.

The Lobos were behind in the other three singles matches when the match was ended.  UNM now has a week off before hosting Montana State on Sunday at 9 a.m. at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.
