Complete Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Seven New Mexico Lobos were honored by the Mountain West as members of the All-Mountain West Swimming and Diving team, league officials announced.  The seven Lobos, Breanna Wiercinski, Jocelyn Gallais, Hedda Øritsland, Mari Aoki, Olivia Bishop, Nicholle Toh and Josie Carpenter earned their way through their performances over eight different events at the MW Championships last week.

To earn All-Mountain West honors, a swimmer or diver would have to finish eighth in an individual race or finish top three in a relay.  Two Lobos were honored three times, twice in individual races and once as a part of a relay team.

Sophomore Hedda Øritsland picked up All-MW honors for finishing sixth in the 100-yard butterfly and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle along with swimming anchor in the 400-yard freestyle relay in which the team broke the UNM record by nearly two seconds.  Swimming the opening leg of that relay was freshman Nicholle Toh, who was also honored three times.  Along with the relay, Toh earned two honors in the butterfly.

In the 200-yard butterfly, Toh finished second to earn all-conference honors, and she also finished third in the 100-yard butterfly.

The other two members of the Lobo record-breaking relay team also were on the all-conference team.  Senior Breanna Wiercinski and freshman Olivia Bishop were honored.  Three other Lobos earned all-conference for individual races and events.  Jocelyn Gallais finished sixth in the platform dive, earning All-MW honors.

Freshman Josie Carpenter finished second in the 1,650-yard freestyle and sophomore Mari Aoki finished seventh in the 400-yard individual medley.

The NCAA Diving Zone E in Seattle will take place March 9-11, and the CSCAA National Invitational will take place March 12-14.
