Gallais, Dark Led Way on Platform at AFA

Prelim Results | Finals Results

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Natasha Dark and Jocelyn Gallais led the way in the platform dive on the final day of the Air Force Diving Invitational.  Dark finished seventh in the finals after coming in 11th in the prelims while Gallais was 11th in the finals after coming in sixth in the prelims

No team scores were kept.  UNM had two divers in the finals and only BYU and Wyoming, with three each, had more.  UNM now heads to the Mountain West Championships, held at the University of Minnesota, February 19-22.

Gallais’s final round total of 194.55 was under her prelim score of 210.15, which replicated would have seen her finish sixth.  It was Dark however who jumped up, improving from a 198.00 to a 203.85 in moving from 11th to seventh overall.

Hannah Teindas was close to getting into the finals, finishing 15th with a score of 189.55. Sara Rogers was 18th at 175.25 and Daphne Scheck was 20th at 174.30 as UNM got all five divers into the top-20.

Overall, UNM’s efforts were solid and a good springboard, to pardon the pun, into the conference championships.  UNM finished fourth in 2019, the highest finish in program history, and although loaded with freshmen, the Lobos have a squad that can make some noise in the championships.
