ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — After a week off, the UNM women’s tennis time is ready to face just about anybody. A road trip is no issue, which is good because UNM heads out for a pair of road games to open conference play. The Lobos will take on Wyoming on Friday at 2 p.m. and then head to Ft. Collins to play Colorado State at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
The only thing that could have cooled off UNM was an off-week, as the Lobos did not play last weekend. UNM is 7-7 on the season, having won four straight, including its first two road wins of the year. UNM got a 4-0 win over Seattle on March 13 and then a 4-3 win (clinched at 4-2) over Eastern Washington on March 15. That followed wins over Northern Arizona and UTEP.
UNM has been led by Bronte Murgett, who has won five straight singles matches, and she has teamed with Natasha Munday to go 10-1 in doubles play, giving UNM a great chance at the doubles point nearly every time out.
Wyoming is 10-5 on the season, having won seven straight. Two of those wins are over two teams in UNM’s four-match win streak, UTEP and Northern Arizona. Colorado State is 7-6 on the season and riding a three-game losing streak. CSU will take on Air Force on Friday.
