Twitty Earns Mountain West Honorable Mention

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Senior outside hitter Lauren Twitty garnered her third All-Mountain West postseason award on Wednesday morning after earning honorable mention as decided on by the conference coaches.

Twitty entered her senior season having won Mountain West All-Conference accolades the last two seasons and was named to the MW Preseason Team.

After being selected as a team captain to start the 2019 season, the Virginia native went on to lead the Lobos in conference play with 209 kills, an average of 2.99 kills per set and with 240 points, an average of 3.44 points per set.

In addition, Twitty compiled 141 digs (2.01 d/s), 44.0 total blocks (three solo), 13 assists and eight service aces.  She finished with a hitting percentage of .171 while starting all 30 matches and appearing in all 115 sets.

During MW competition, Twitty recorded double-digit kills in 11 matches, including a stretch of six-straight matches spanning from Oct. 5 to Oct. 22.  The senior led the Lobo offense in kills in five conference matches and tied for the team high in another five.  Five also represented the number of double-doubles that Twitty tallied.

Her season high came against Utah State on Oct. 12 when she recorded 18 kills and 18 digs.

In her four-year career at UNM, Twitty accumulated 1262 kills (3.15 k/s), 881 digs (2.20 d/s), 222 total blocks (34 solo), 76 service aces, 61 assists and a total of 1466.0 points (3.66 pts/s). Her kills total puts her fourth all-time in program history and her points total puts her fifth all-time.
