A Murphy kill and Twitty ace would pull the Lobos to the closest they would get at four at 17-13 but the Rebels would get the points back plus some to go up by eight at 23-15. UNM would close within five following three straight points from  from a Biassou kill, a Biassou and Willison block and Twitty and Willison block and would fight off match point with a Rebel service error, but a Rebel kill gave UNLV the 25-19 set win for the match.
