Lobos Take Winning Streak to HBU Invitational
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— After a successful weekend in which The University of New Mexico beach volleyball team defeated Abilene Christian in a pair of 5-0 decisions in the lone home matches of the season, the Lobos travel to Houston, Texas for the HBU Invitational.
The Lobos (6-10) will play four matches in two days, with a few changes in the original schedule. UNM will open up the weekend with an early 8 a.m. MT match against host Houston Baptist (4-8). However, instead of playing Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday, the Lobos will instead play New Orleans (6-4), a late addition to the schedule. That match is scheduled for 11 a.m. MT.
On Saturday, UNM will play Texas A&M-Kingsville (8-7) with first serve set for 8 a.m. MT, before the Lobos close the weekend with Texas A&M- Corpus Christi (7-8) at 10 a.m.
All matches will be played at Third Coast Volleyball
The Lobos have previously played Houston Baptist, with UNM losing a close 3-2 match. UNM has also previously played against Texas A&M-Kingsville in the same Kingsville Tourney, however, UNM emerged with a 3-2 victory against the Javelinas.
Historically, UNM is 0-2 against Houston Baptist, 1-0 against New Orleans, 0-1 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and 2-1 against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
