Head Coach Ritchie McKay:
“I think it is early. I think our team needs to see a lot of depth and were just messing around with combinations, wanting to see different things. It’s hard to get the guys into the flow. I think obviously with David and Danny in there with a couple of more extended minutes, we probably would have looked better. We played really well, at least the starters did.

“I am encouraged. I like what Eastern New Mexico does. That was a good team for us to play; they played hard and played together. Sometimes in exhibition games you just play against talent.

“Kris (Collins) has expectations of himself; everyone has high expectations of him. I am sure if you talk to him, he is going to be disappointed. He has practiced very, very well. That is why he is in the starting position and he will start again on Saturday. He is too anxious to please.”

Junior Kris Collins:
“I wasn’t really nervous. I didn’t have any butterflies or anything like that. We won, so that’s the most important thing. We’re going to make progress the entire season, one game at a time. I felt pretty good out there. I wanted to be back in Division I ball, so there’s no reason to be nervous.”

Freshman Darren Prentice:
“I was nervous when I first got out there, playing in my first collegiate game. But once I got out there in the groove and played for a couple of minutes, everything was OK. The size of the players in the game was the biggest difference out there for me.”

Senior Danny Granger:
“We’ve been waiting for this moment. We’ve put so much time into this, so much practice, waking up at 6 a.m. and going all day. It was nice to get out there, but it’s game time now. It’s time to get focused. No matter who we’re playing, whether it’s Wake Forest or Oregon or whoever, we need to bring our “A” game. When we step onto the court, we step on to win.”
