Fan Code of Conduct

UNM Athletics is committed to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for all fans, staff, student-athletes, coaches and students. To help us provide this environment, we ask that all patrons and attendees follow these guidelines:

  • Contribute to making the environment of UNM Athletics the very best by upholding the spirit of collegiate athletics.
  • Support our teams in a positive manner while treating visiting fans, teams and officials with dignity and respect.
  • Promote an environment that minimizes disruption, creates a safe atmosphere for all, prevents interference with the game and ensures the enjoyment of the game for everyone.
  • Do not throw items at anyone or onto the playing surface.
  • Refrain from using obscene or abusive language or gestures, and from wearing inappropriate attire, such as attire that contains offensive language or images.
  • Sit only in the seat designated on your ticket and be prepared to present your ticket, if requested.
  • Comply with all posted instructions, emergency messages, emergency procedures and requests from staff concerning the facility and gameday operations.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal laws and follow the instructions of event staff and law enforcement.
  • Comply with all UNM policies.
  • Smoking (including e-cigarettes) and the use of tobacco are prohibited on all UNM property campuses and property
  • Consuming cannabis in any form is prohibited on all UNM property.

Disruptive guests, and guests appearing intoxicated, inebriated or showing other signs of impairment related to alcohol consumption or drug use may be denied entry and are subject to ejection.  UNM policies regarding the sale and possession of alcohol and drugs on UNM property may be found at https://pathfinder.unm.edu/campus-policies/policy-on-illegal-drugs-and-alcohol.html

Guests will be removed from areas that are designated as Authorized Personnel Only, and from any other area that, in the judgment of UNM staff or law enforcement, is necessary.

Event staff and law enforcement have been trained to intervene where necessary to help ensure that the above expectations are met. Guests are encouraged to report any inappropriate behavior to the nearest security guard, event staff personnel (in purple shirts) or uniformed police officer.  Fans are also encouraged to download the Lobo Guardian App (https://loboguardian.unm.edu/), and to use it to report inappropriate behavior.

Examples of prohibited behavior include, but are not limited to: throwing objects of any kind; entering or attempting to enter the field of play; engaging in disorderly behavior; engaging in behavior that endangers the safety of student-athletes, coaches, officials or fellow guests; and taunting event staff, student-athletes, coaches or training staff, referees or game officials, public safety officials, or any other person.

Fans who exhibit disorderly or disruptive behavior or otherwise violate UNM policies are subject to the following consequences: ticket revocation, ejection from the facility without refund, permanent ban from UNM facilities, and/or arrest and prosecution. Students failing to meet these expectations or otherwise engaging in disruptive behavior may also be referred to the Office of the Dean of Students for disciplinary action.
