Micah Simon joined the Lobo Football program in December of 2023, and he serves as the receivers coach for UNM. He comes to New Mexico after a one-year stint at Northern Colorado, which was his first full-time coaching position.
Simon brings to UNM two years of coaching but a strong background playing both collegiately and professionally. After a stellar career at BYU, Simon was signed by the Carolina Panthers in 2021 and then went north to the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League.
The 2024 season will be his first working with Mendenhall.
PREVIOUS COACHING STOPS
NORTHERN COLORADO (2023): Simon’s first full-time on-field coaching gig came in Greeley, Colorado, serving as the receivers coach for Northern Colorado. With the Bears, Simon was instrumental in the breakthrough seasons for freshman Blake Haggerty and sophomore Jamarii Robinson, who combined for 91 catches, 1,005 yards and four touchdowns.
SYRACUSE (2022): Simon got his collegiate coaching career started with current offensive coordinator Jason Beck, serving as an offensive analyst with the Syracuse Orange, working with the receivers and quarterbacks. In his lone year at Syracuse, the Orange threw for 3,015 yards and 19 touchdowns.

PLAYING CAREER: BYU (2015-2019): As a player, Simon played from 2015-19, with his true freshman season under Bronco Mendenhall at BYU. With the Cougars, Simon played in 36 games with 89 career receptions for 1,109 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for two more touchdowns and he threw a touchdown pass as well.
His best season was as a senior in 2019 when he caught 51 passes for 616 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed five times for 47 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and he was 2-for-3 passing for 57 yards and a touchdown, giving him a 336.3 rating.
Simon earned bachelor’s degree in exercise science from BYU in 2019.
