Dallyn McLean joined the Lobo family officially in July of 2026. He serves as a Defensive Graduate Assistant, working with all areas of the defense and assisting in all recruiting efforts.
McLean is pursuing his master’s degree in physical education while at UNM.
With the Lobos, he helps with practice planning, on-the-field coaching, and scouting. A native of Cape Town, South Africa, McLean got his coaching start in the high school ranks.
After seeing a high school football game in Idaho where he and his family were living, McLean decided that coaching football was his next adventure. He served as an assistant coach at Rigby High School in Rigby, Idaho, where he coached the defense. Over his three seasons from 2019-21, he served as defensive backs coach, outside linebackers coach, and as the coach for the kickers and punters.
From there, he coached the secondary at Moses Lake High School for two seasons before being named head coach at Warden High School, where he coached for two seasons.
He spent 2025 with Glenn High School in Texas, serving as special teams coordinator.
In his high school career, he coached three district championship teams, and his Rigby squad won the 2019 and 2021 5A state championships.
While he gained his first coaching experience in football in 2017, he has coached several other sports, including Rugby, soccer, track & field, softball, and volleyball.
He and his wife, Cassidy, have two children, Haven and Duke.
