Jacob Girgle

New Mexico: Late signee who proved a valuable scout player as a redshirt in 2015 … was UNM’s primary back-up safety in 2016 but saw plenty of action … Mountain West All-Academic in 2016.

2016 (Redshirt Junior Season): Played in all 12 games, starting one … registered 16 tackles on the season … had a career-high five tackles in a win at Hawai’i … had three tackles against Utah State and two each against Air Force and Colorado State.

2015 (Junior Season): Redshirted.

Junior College: Had a superb sophomore season at Santa Barbara Community College, registering 70 tackles, including 41 solos … had 2.5 tackles for a loss … had  a forced fumble against San Bernardino … also picked off three passes, returning them 22 yards total … broke up six passes during the season … had a career-best 17 tackles against Glendale Community College, one of two double-figure tackle games … Played his freshman season at College of the Desert.

High School:  Lettered in football at Los Osos High School … recorded 37 tackles in his junior and senior seasons … had an interception as a senior as well as a fumble recovery … broke up three passes as a senior and one as a junior.
