NEW MEXICO: A former walk-on who earned a scholarship just prior to the start of the 2012 season … has added 15 pound during the 2013 offseason and earned a starting role in 2013 … now an integral part of the offense with an exemplary work ethic … presents a decent-sized target with excellent hands and is willing to catch the ball in traffic. Came to the UNM program in 2010 and his work ethic earned him playing time as a redshirt freshman.
2013 (JUNIOR): Team leader in receiving yards with 294 and tied for the team lead in receptions with 19 … also had three carries for 40 yards on the season … had a career-high four receptions for 19 yards at Pittsburgh… also had a 28-yard run against the Panthers … had a career high 57 receiving yards on a pair of catches against San Diego State … recored his first career touchdown reception on a 28-yard pass against Air Force.
2012 (SOPHOMORE): Played in 10 games with four starts … caught three passes for 23 yards and had a 45-yard run against Fresno State on Oct. 27 … was the first New Mexico Man — an award that honors a walk-on from New Mexico for his hard work during the week of practice leading up to the upcoming game — in coach Bob Davie’s tenure.
2011 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Rose to the occasion when the team suffered multiple injuries at the wide receiver position…played in six games with two starts … had one catch for six yards vs. Air Force in week eight.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Rio Rancho High School and played for coach David Howes … had 81 receptions for 1,153 yards and 20 touchdowns his senior year in 2009. Was selected All-Metro his junior and senior seasons and 1st Team All-State his senior season.
PERSONAL: Born April 3, 1992 in Rhinebeck, N.Y. … Son of Steve and Lisa Magnant … has two older sisters and a younger brother … hobbies include playing sports … favorite food is steak … favorite athlete is Dwyane Wade … was a member of Honor Roll throughout high school.
