NEW MEXICO: An athletic linebacker who has excellent size and possesses the physical tools to become a standout player in the conference … has an opportunity to put it all together in 2014 and become a player to watch in the Mountain West … fully recovered from a torn ACL on the first play of the 2011 season and his size is reminiscent of another Lobo defender who played in the late 1990s — Brian Urlacher … sat out the 2010 season after transferring from the University of Maryland … played on the scout team in 2010.

2013 (JUNIOR): Named to Phil Steele’s preseason All-Mountain West fourth team, Johnson turned in his most productive season as a Lobo … started all 12 games at outside linebacker and finished with 45 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack … also had two quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles … his first forced fumble came in the opener against UTSA, in which teammate SaQwan Edwards scooped up the ball and ran 45 yards for a touchdown … second on the team with two forced fumbles … had a career-high seven tackles against UTEP … made a career-high four unassisted tackles against Fresno State.

2012 (SOPHOMORE): Played in all 13 games … finished with 23 tackles and was second on the team with 4.5 sacks and third with 6.5 tackles for loss … finished with two solo tackles, both of which were for a loss and one of which was a sack, against Wyoming on Nov. 10 … led the Lobos with two tackles for a loss, including one sack, against Fresno State on Oct. 27 … finished the contest against the Bulldogs with five solo tackles … recorded three tackles (one solo, two assist) against Air Force on Oct. 20 … was credited with the first solo sack of his career against Texas State on Oct. 6 … recorded his first career sack when he split a third-down sack with Reggie Ellis in the second quarter against New Mexico State on Sept. 22 … led the Lobos with three unassisted tackles vs. Southern on Sept. 1 in his first action since tearing his ACL against Colorado State on the first play of the 2011 season … finished with four tackles against the Jaguars.

2011 (FRESHMAN): Had solid spring and fall practice sessions and was on the two-deep at LB before his injury in the the season opener.

HIGH SCHOOL: Originally signed with Maryland and had enrolled early to participate in spring drills … was a four-star recruit coming out of Dunbar Senior High School and was listed as the top high school prospect in the Washington, D.C., area.
