NEW MEXICO: The team’s most experienced tight end entering the 2013 season … is fully recovered from a knee injury he suffered just before spring practice in 2012 … coaches expect him to be a versatile player in the offense and serve as a leader … has excellent hands and should flourish as a blocker, now that he is healthy … became UNM’s Hard Hat champion during the 2013 spring offseason conditioning drills, which goes to the player with the best effort and gains during strength and speed conditioning drills from the beginning of the spring semester to the end of spring football practice … is looking to put on weight to help his blocking ability in UNM’s heavy-run scheme … has a chance to have an outstanding senior season … a former walk-on who has the work ethic and attitude to become leader of his position group …an Academic All-Mountain West selection in the fall of 2012.

2013 (SENIOR): Set career highs in catches (nine) and yards (179) while starting all 12 games … recorded one catch for 29 yards at Pitt on Sept. 14 … caught two passes for 46 yards, including a season-long 38-yard reception at San Diego State on Nov. 2 … converted a two-point conversion by hauling in a pass from Cole Gautsche in a win over Air Force on Nov. 8 … hauled in a 30-yard grab at Fresno St. on Nov. 23 … finished his career with 45 appearances for the Lobos. 

2012 (JUNIOR): Missed the first four games of the season after suffering an offseason knee injury … returned to play the final nine games of the season … emerged as a pass-catching threat late in the season, hauling in two receptions in the last three games … had a career-long 55-yard reception in the season finale at Colorado State … scored on a 7-yard reception again Wyoming on Nov. 10.

2011 (SOPHOMORE): Played in all 12 games and made his first two career starts, against Nevada and Boise State…made a career-long 19-yard catch against Nevada…hauled in a 12-yard reception in the season opener against Colorado State…took on an expanded role in the offense, playing in two tight-end sets as well as the lone tight end in certain situations.

2010 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN):Played in 12 games as a freshman…served as the primary tight end against nationally-ranked TCU…had his first career catch against the Horned Frogs on Nov. 27 in University Stadium…finished the season with a catch for nine yards…mostly used in double-tight situations and short yardage.

HIGH SCHOOL:A 2009 graduate of Roswell High…played for head coach Robert Arreola…All-State in football and basketball…All-District 4A…helped lead basketball team to a 23-7 record and a state championship his senior year……lettered in track and field as well.

PERSONAL: Born June 26, 1991 in Salt Lake City, Utah… full name is Andrew Alan Aho… son of George and Lorenza…has two older sisters: Brittany and Meghan, and two brothers: younger brother George and older brother James, who was the Lobos’ starting kicker from 2008-11 … George currently is a redshirt freshman linebacker on the team … graduated in May, 2013 with a degree in University Studies with a grade-point average above 3.0.
