NEW MEXICO: A junior college transfer in 2012 who now has a year under his belt with the scheme and is poised for a strong senior season in 2013 … plays with aggression and should be faster to the football because of his knowledge of the defense … has added 12 pounds to his frame since last season.2013 (SENIOR): Appeared in nine games and made one start for the Lobos … finished the season with 15 total tackles (eight solo, seven assist) … had a season-high four stops (three solo) in the season opener vs. UTSA … finished with three tackles at UTEP on Sept. 7, at Wyoming on Oct. 12, and again vs. Utah State on Oct. 19 … made his only start of the season at Pitt on Sept. 14 … recorded a tackle for a loss against New Mexico State on Oct. 5 … made 20 appearances in two years as a Lobo and totaled 25 tackles.2012 (JUNIOR): Was a valuable member on special teams … played in 12 games … finished the season with 10 tackles (one solo, nine assisted) … best game came in the season opener against Southern in which he had three tackles … had two tackles each against Air Force (Oct. 20) and Nevada (Nov. 17).

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Was a first-team All-NorCal Conference at Foothill in 2011 for coach Doug Boyette … played both weakside LB and strong safety … had 66 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception and eight pass breakups as a sophomore …

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, Calif., where he was a two-time Santa Clara Valley Athletic League honoree … was voted the league’s Utility Player of the Year and the team most valuable player his senior year.

PERSONAL: Born Dec. 10, 1990 in San Jose, Calif … full name is David Edward Orvick … son of Linda and Ken Orvick … has two sisters, Joanie and Ellie, and two brothers, Jack and Tommy … dad was an offensive lineman at Stanford … his uncle, Matt Orvick, was a pitcher at San Diego State … interested in Exercise Physiology.
