SOPHOMORE (2016 at NMJC): Hit .312 with eight home runs, nine doubles, four triples and 41 RBI for NMJC in 154 at-bats (50 games) … hit his first collegiate home run Feb. 13 against Lamar (hit two in the game) … finished the season with a seven-game hitting streak that included seven RBI and a pair of home runs. … the switch-hitting catcher threw out 16 runners on 38 stolen base attempts.
FRESHMAN (2015 at NMJC): Hit .343 with three doubles and six RBI in 67 at-bats (24 games) for NMJC … Had his first collegiate hit Jan. 30 versus Lamar … Had eight multi-hit games, including going 3-for-3 with a triple, double, RBI and three runs Feb. 14 against Trinidad State.
PERSONAL: Born June 24, 1996 to Sam and Tracy Herrera … has one brother, David … Was a First Team All-State catcher at Volcano Vista, helping the Hawks win the 2014 Metro Championship and get to the state quarterfinals in 2014 by hitting .419 with 14 doubles and 21 RBI … hit 389 as a junior and .356 as a sophomore … favorite all-time athlete is Mickey Mantle.
