Jared Elliott is in his first season with the New Mexico Lobos, serving as tight ends coach.  Elliott brings with him head coaching experience as well as offensive coordinator experience.

PREVIOUS COACHING STOPS

BALL STATE (2022-24): Elliott spent three years with Ball State as tight ends coach, and he went from Offensive Passing Game Coordinator in 2022 to Co-Offensive Coordinator to 2023 and finally Offensive Coordinator in 2024.

Elliott coached Tanner Koziol, who was named Third Team All-MAC at tight end in 2023 and Second Team All-MAC in 2024.  Koziol was third on the team in receptions in 2023 and he led the squad with three touchdown receptions, but in 2024, Koziol put up incredible numbers with 94 receptions for 839 yards and eight touchdowns, leading the team in all three categories.

Koziol was a Freshman All-American after his 2022 season.

Overall in 2024 as the offensive coordinator, the Cardinals averaged nearly 26 points per game and threw for 245 yards per game and amassed 4,174 total yards and 38 touchdowns with rookie quarterback Kadin Semonza being named MAC Freshman of the Year.  Overall six Cardinals were named to the three All-MAC teams, including three offensive linemen.

His 2023 squad featured Marquez Cooper at running back, who rushed for 1.043 yards in his one season with Ball State.

WESTERN ILLINOIS (2016-21): Elliott was with the Leathernecks for six years, the final four seasons as head coach, leading Western Illinois through the COVID-19 crisis.

In his six seasons with the Leathernecks, the program picked up numerous accolades with 16 All-Missouri Valley Conference selections, 13 honorable mention choices and six FCS All-Americans. Five of his players reached the professional ranks, including three who made it to the NFL; Lance Lenoir (Buffalo Bills), LaCale London (Chicago Bears), and Khalen Saunders (Kansas City Chiefs). Elliott also mentored two players who reached the CFL; Jaelon Acklin (Hamilton Tiger-Cats) and Sean McGuire (Winnipeg Blue Bombers).

In the 2021 season, Western Illinois set program records for passing yards per game (301.0) and completions (315). Under his charge, Western Illinois quarterbacks Connor Sampson and Sean McGuire rewrote the Western Illinois record book. McGuire broke career records with 9,819 total passing yards, 223.2 yards per game, 771 completions and 72 touchdowns. Sampson broke the program record for completion percentage, finishing at 63.3 percent.

Over his six seasons, Western Illinois passing offense consistently ranked among the FCS leaders. Receiver Lance Lenoir set career marks with 273 receptions, 3,792 receiving yards, and 28 touchdowns when Jaelon Acklin set a single season record of 1,369 receiving yards and a 114.1 yards per game in 2017.

Prior to becoming the head coach in 2018, he served as Receivers coach for two seasons including serving as Co-Offensive Coordinator in 2017.

CARTHAGE COLLEGE (2013-15): Served as the Co-Offensive Coordinator, Quarterbacks coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Carthage College for three seasons as the Firebirds saw improvement in the win column in all three seasons.

WESTERN ILLINOIS (2012): Spent one season in his first go-round with Western Illinois as quarterbacks coach.

MIAMI (OH) (2010-11): Served as a graduate assistant for the Miami of Ohio Redhawks for two seasons, helping Miami to the 2010 GoDaddy.com Bowl.

MISSOURI SOUTHERN (2008-09): Made his debut as a collegiate coach with Missouri Southern in Division II.

PLAYING CAREER – MIAMI (OH) (2004-07). Played four years at Miami of Ohio as a quarterback and a receiver, and he helped the Redhawks to three MAC championships.
