Michael Smith enters his third season as a defensive graduate assistant with the Lobos. With the defense, Smith handles on-the-field coaching, game preparation, film work and statistical analysis. He works closely with the defensive line.
Smith spent the 2016 season as a defensive graduate assistant at Dordt College in Sioux City, Iowa.
Smith played at Rice University from 2008-11, where he was a three-year starter on the defensive line, finishing his career starting 32 consecutive games.
