
Colin Lockett
Colin Lockett joined the Lobo family in December of 2024, and he serves as the wide receivers coach for UNM. He came to the Duke City after one season at UC Davis, where he faced off against head coach Jason Eck in the Big Sky.
PREVIOUS COACHING STOPS
UC DAVIS (2024): Lockett spent one season with UC Davis in the Big Sky Conference, coaching receivers. In his lone season, UC Davis won a school record of 11 games, going 11-3 overall and 7-1 in league play to finish second. The offense for the Aggies ranked third in the FCS in passing yards, while their positional group finished the season with 2,800 yards & 22 total touchdowns, as UC Davis advanced to the FCS quarterfinals for only the second time in school history.
OREGON (2022-23): Served as a graduate assistant with the Ducks coaching receivers in 2022 and running backs in 2023. The 2022 Ducks went 10-3 overall, finishing 7-2, tied for second in the Pac-12. The Ducks defeated North Carolina in the Holiday Bowl to close the season.
The following season, the Ducks went 12-2 and 8-1 in the final season of Pac-12 football, falling in the Pac-12 championship game but winning the Fiesta Bowl 45-6.
With the Ducks, he coached running back Bucky Irving, a fourth-round draft choice by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and receiver Troy Franklin, a fourth-round draft choice by the Denver Broncos. While a member of the Ducks’ staff, he participated in the Second Annual Diversity Coaching Summit, held at the home of the Minnesota Vikings at the TCO Performance Center.
WASHINGTON (2021): Served as a defensive backs quality control coach for one season. With the Huskies, he worked with future NFL players Jordan Perryman and Mishael Powell.
SAN DIEGO STATE (2020): Served as a graduate assistant with his alma mater, San Diego State, in his first collegiate coaching action.
JOHN BOSCO (HS) (2017-19): Spent three years on staff at high school powerhouse St. John Bosco as a defensive backs coach, helping St. John Bosco to the 2019 High School National Championship.
PLAYING CAREER – SAN DIEGO STATE (2010-13); CINCINNATI BENGALS (NFL, 2014); WASHINGTON REDSKINS (NFL, 2014-15); BC LIONS (CFL, 2016): Played four seasons at San Diego State, and played in 48 games overall, grabbing 130 passes for 1,999 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also scored a touchdown rushing, with 190 career rushing yards. He was also a valuable returner, averaging 24.1 yards per return on 92 returns with three touchdowns. He ended his career with 4,405 all-purpose yards. He was a defensive back as a freshman before moving to receiver.
He parleyed his SDSU career into a brief stint in the NFL with the Bengals and Redskins before transitioning to the CFL for a year.
