2015-16 (Sophomore Season)
*Named All-Mountain West in both singles and doubles.
*Went 22-14 in singles play, leading the team in wins.
Picked up 17 wins in the Spring, also most on the team.
*Had a stretch in the Spring with 10 wins in 12 matches,
*Finished the regular season with a season-high five-match winning streak.
*Went 28-14 in doubles, the sixth-most doubles win in a single-season in UNM men’s tennis history.
*Paired up with Hayden Sabatka, advancing to the semifinals of the ITA Indoor Championships in New York City.
*Defeated Georgia’s Ben Wagland and Austin Smith, the nation’s No.1 ranked team, winning 6-4, 6-2.
*Advanced in doubles to the NCAA Tournament, dropping a first round match.
*Finished the season strong with 10 wins in his fial 13 doubles matches.
*Named Mountain West All-Academic and a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete.
2014-15 (Freshman Season)
*Went 18-11 in his rookie season, including 7-2 in the Fall.
*His 18 wins tied for the most on the team.
*Named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year.
*Had a season-best six-match winning streak where he defeated Marko Goles-Babic from the No. 37 ranked team, San Diego State.
*Van Leijsen 23-9 in doubles play, including 13-7 at No. 1 doubles.
*Went 13-4 when teamed with Hayden Sabatka.
*He finished with a Mountain West record of 5-2 in singles play.
*Named Mountain West All-Academic.
Prior to UNM
*Van Leijsen came to UNM from Drenthe, Netherlands.
*He has competed in several international events throughout his career including the Leeuwenbergh ITF 4 Junior Championships, the 2013 Biesterbos Open, and the 2013 ITF Euro Holding Bytom Cup.
Personal
*The son of Niek and Annemarie Van Leijsen and brother to Tom (20) and Laura (18).
Both of his parents played volleyball in the best division in Holland.
*Studying international business while at UNM.
*When he’s not playing tennis, he enjoys watching soccer and movies, playing video games, and hanging out with friends.
