Women's Golf Up Two Spots After Round Two

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team moved up two spots after round two two on Saturday at the PING/ASU Invitational after chopping six strokes off of its first-round total. The Lobos sit 10th at 12 over par.

No. 7 Arizona is in first after two rounds with an even score of 576. Both Arizona and UNM carded a 291 in round two.

Sophomore Napat “Jenny” Lertsadwattana remains tied for 12th overall to lead UNM after shooting an even par (72) in both of the first two rounds. She is just five strokes out of a tie for first and four out of a tie for second.

Lertsadwattana ranks tied for third in par-5 scoring (-4, 4.50) and tied for seventh in pars with 26.

“We had a good day today, but still gave away too many shots at the end of our round,” head coach Jill Trujillo said. “We’re making a lot of birdies, so those finishing holes need to be even or better to match our low scoring.”

As a team, the Lobos are tied for second overall in birdies with 28, and in par-5 scoring (4.78, -9).

Sophomore Lauren Lehigh shot a 73 in both rounds for a two-over, 146, good to tie for 22nd through two rounds. She was followed by freshman Myah McDonald who cut five strokes off of her round-one score for an even 72 in round two. She is tied for 39th at +5.

McDonald is tied with eight golfers, including Lobo senior Caroline Jansson who carded a score of 75 and 74 in rounds one and two, respectively.

Junior Serena Chon performed six strokes better in round two playing as an individual. She shot a 74 and is +10 on the competition, tied for 66th.

Senior Reva Morris is just one stroke behind at +11.

The Lobos will finish the PING/ASU Invitational on Sunday in the third and final round. UNM will tee off at 7:30 a.m. PT (8:30 a.m. MT). Fans can follow the action via live stats.
