ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The University of New Mexico’s swimming and diving team will kickoff its season in Stockton, Calif., at the Pacific Invitational starting on Friday, October 12 at 8 p.m. MT and resuming on Saturday at 10 a.m. MT. The 27th annual invitational will take place at Chris Kjelden Pool located on the campus of the University of Pacific.
The Lobos will be competing against UC- Santa Cruz, Fresno Pacific, Pacific, as well as Mountain West schools Nevada and San José State.
UNM has not previously competed in the Pacific Invitational.
The 2018-19 roster includes 12 returners, half of which earned all-conference last year, and four swimmers and one relay team who broke school records in 2017-18. Among the all-conference earners were Allyson Concepcion, Adriana Palomino, Konoha Shinada, Emily Huffer, Matea Sumajstorcic and Klara Farkas.
New Mexico added 11 freshmen to the roster this year, nine of which will be competing this weekend.
This weekend, the Lobos will have 17 swimmers competing in 17 events throughout the two-day meet, not including four relays that the Lobos will be competing in.
