Men’s Tennis Host Final Home Matches against UNLV and San Diego State

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team will host their final two home matches of the season this upcoming weekend.
 
The Lobos (10-10, 3-1 MW) kick off the weekend with a match against the Rebels (14-7, 2-2 MW) at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium on Friday at 4 p.m. MT. There will be free food provided from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for fans that attend the match.
 
On Sunday, the Lobos host Senior Day and the Loren Dils Fundraiser BBQ. The event will take place at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium beginning at 11 a.m. MT. Fans are encouraged to attend and support the team’s last match while also supporting a great cause. The final home match against San Diego State will follow the event at 1 p.m. MT.
 
New Mexico has won their last three conference matches, including a huge 4-3 upset over No. 40 Utah State this past weekend. UNLV has also won their last three matches over Southern Utah, Nevada and Fresno State. Last season, the Lobos fell to the Rebels 4-2 in the opening round of the Mountain West Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev.
 
In doubles, Bart Van Leijsen and Dominic West lead the Lobo squad with a 10-5 overall record followed by Rodolfo Jauregui and Sean Baklini with a 7-2 overall record. For the Rebels, Jakob Amilon and Evaldo Neto lead the team with a 14-5 overall record.
 
In singles, Ricky Hernandez-Tong posts an 18-9 overall record for the Lobos followed by Jauregui with a 12-13 overall record. Alexander Cozbinov leads the Rebels with an 18-7 overall record followed by Amilon with an 17-8 overall record.
 
“We are looking forward to hosting UNLV and San Diego State this weekend,” head coach Ben Dunbar said. “Kick off your weekend with us on Friday at 4 p.m. and let’s create a real home atmosphere. Free food and a great college tennis match. Sunday is Senior Day, where we will honor Rodolfo Jauregui and a day very close to Lobo fans hearts as the tailgate to fundraise for our hero, Loren Dils, will be going on. I know our guys cannot wait for these matches.”
 
The Lobos take on UNLV on Friday, Apr. 14 at 4 p.m. MT and San Diego State on Sunday, Apr. 16 at 1 p.m. MT at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium. There will be a live stats broadcast for each of the matches that can be found at lobostats.com on the day of the events.
