MW Championships Day One Results

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS – The first day of the 2016 Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships wrapped up Wednesday, and it was a tough day for the University of New Mexico. The Lobos are currently in 10th place with 24 points after a couple of disappointing finishes.

Freshman Allyson Concepcion barely missed the cut for the 1 meter diving championships, placing 17th with 238.15 points. She was just .15 points behind the B cut for the diving final. Then in the first swimming event of the day, UNM’s 200 yard medley relay team was disqualified and failed to score. The Lobos did place seventh in the 800 yard freestyle relay, though, claiming all 24 of their points for the day. Freshman Adriana Palomino, sophomore Morgan Ginnis, junior Anna Lengyel and freshman Emily Huffer combined to post a time of 7:20.70.

UNM enters day two of the championships 14 points behind ninth place Fresno State. The events include 3 meter diving, the 500 free, the 200 IM and the 50 free.
