Albuquerque, N.M.—The University of New Mexico men’s tennis squad wrapped up the Balloon Fiesta Invite today at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium and Linda Estes Tennis Center. The Lobos competed in three flight finals and two consolation final matches.
The duo of Augustus Ge and Rodolfo Jauregui competed their way to the finals in doubles play and came out on top once more to win the title. They defeated Adkisson and James of the University of Arizona 8-4.
In singles play, Ge and Baklini played in the final match of their respective draws, but both fell short. Ge lost to New Mexico State University’s Gonclaves 6-2, 6-3 and Baklini lost to NMSU’s Dehaan 6-4, 6-4.
Michael Tran and Rodolfo Jauregui competed in the consolation final matches in their draw but also came up short against their opponents.
The Lobos look forward to their next invitational. They host the USTA/ITA Regionals tournament Oct. 21-25.
