With the loss the Lobos move to 13-10 on the season and 4-6 in Mountain
West Conference play. The Lobos extend their losing streak to 24 games
away from The Pit. BYU improves to 17-7 and 7-4 in MWC action. The
Cougars are now in a tie for second place with Utah (19-7, 7-4). New
Mexico will drop to fifth place in the MWC if UNLV defeats Colorado
State tonight.

BYU shot 60.0% (30-50) from the floor for the game. The Cougars opened
up the second-half hitting 12 of their first 16 shots and four of their
first five treys. It is the second-highest FG% allowed by the Lobos
this season (62.5% vs. Air Force on 1-17-04).

Leading 41-36 at the half, BYU used an 18-4 over the first 8:09 run to
open up to a 59-40 lead. New Mexico went 2/10 from the field and had
three turnovers during that stretch.

Junior Danny Granger scored a season-low nine points on 3/9 shooting
and grabbed a season-low three rebounds.

Junior Guard Troy DeVries scored 16 points on 5/12 shooting, 5/9 from 3-
pt. range. He started the game 1/7 from the floor and made four of his
last five 3-pt. FG’s. It was his highest scoring game since netting 22
points against San Diego on January 6, 2004.

Junior guard Collins Ferris equaled his career-high of eight points in
the first half against BYU. He was 2/4 from the field, 2/3 from 3-pt.
range, and 2-2 from the foul line. He set his previous career-high
against Northwestern State (12-28-03) and New Mexico Highlands (11-24-
03).

Sophomore guard Jeff Hart set a season-high with eight points,
including two three-pointers. He was 3-4 from the field and 2-2 from 3-
pt. range in nine minutes of play.

Sophomore forward David Chiotti played just 19 minutes in the game,
mostly due to foul trouble. He scored eight points on 2-5 shooting, 4-
5 from the foul line. He also did not have a rebound for the third
time this season.
